a Probation and Parole Agent and ultimately a Corrections Field Supervisor. I was with the WI DOC for 22 years and through that experience became a trainer in case planning, the COMPAS Assessment, the IDA, Risk Reduction, and Core Correctional Practices. I think I have a good perspective on the end user, and evidence-based practices and how our software helps those doing similar work. I love working with people, helping them, and being a small part of someone’s world.
Favorite thing about working at equivant Supervision + Pretrial?
I am really loving the connections I am making with people throughout the country who all have a common goal. It’s been fun learning about different perspectives and how other agencies use our software. I enjoy training staff and helping them navigate through the Northpointe Suite. I also enjoy my co-workers, brainstorming, and coming up with ways to enhance my interactions with our partners.
Favorite book?
I love to read and am drawn to books about criminal mysteries, but don’t have a specific favorite book. My favorite authors are James Patterson, John Sandford (Lucas Davenport books), and William Kent Krueger (Cork O’Connor Mystery books).
When you are not working, what are your favorite things to do?
If I’m not working, you can probably find me at our local CrossFit Gym! My husband and I try to stay as active as possible—downhill skiing in the winter, mountain biking as soon as it’s warm enough, and CrossFit all year round. There is an adventure basecamp north of Hayward, WI that offers great camping and about 30+ miles of single track mountain bike trails, so we like to camp and bike a few times a year. I also have a goal of running another half-marathon this year. Last year I did a 2-mile swim in Lake Superior, so need another super goal to achieve! We have 2 boys (ages 23 and 19), so we are finally getting to the point in our lives where we can start doing adventures just the two of us!
Favorite food?
Seafood!!! Sushi, shrimp, fish, all of it!
My superpower is...
Playing “What’s their story?” It’s a fun game to people watch and try to figure out their narrative, but it’s also a great way to talk yourself out of road rage! Flip the script to give people the benefit of the doubt – it changes your perspective on everything.
