to solve problems and make real, life-changing differences for people has been incredibly rewarding for me.
Favorite thing about working at equivant Supervision + Pretrial?
Early in my career, I got to work with victims and clients during some of the toughest times in their lives, helping them find resources and restore a bit of hope for better days. Now, I get to meet dedicated people across the country who are doing that same kind of work. Hearing their stories and challenges inspires me to help support research-based practices, positive change strategies, innovative AI, and software that’s built to help staff work more efficiently with the latest technology.

Emotional Survival for Law Enforcement: A Guide for Officers and Their Families by Dr. Kevin Gilmartin. I really enjoyed this book as it opened my eyes to the mind-body-energy connection people experience working in high-stress, high-stakes jobs. There are biological reasons why people in the criminal justice field have higher than average rates of depression, divorce, substance abuse disorders, suicide, and other negative life events. This book should be mandatory reading for anyone who gets into the criminal justice field – at the very beginning of their career.
The Deepest Well – Healing the Long-Term Effects of Childhood Adversity by Dr. Nadine Burke Harris. We have always known in the criminal justice field that trauma significantly impacts every aspect of a person’s life. In recent years we have begun to acknowledge with more scientific evidence just how pervasive trauma can be - not only for the person, but for generations to come. I especially appreciated this book for highlighting some tangible things a person can do to help move toward healing.
